Howard Lederer

       Howard Henry Lederer known as "The Professor" was born October 30, 1964 in Concord, New Hampshire.

       He grew up in New Hampshire and got well acquainted with card games before he turned into a teenager when he discovered had a love and a talent for the game of chess and he decided to work on his chess career and move to New York City.This is where Howard found poker.

       The first time Howard entered the WSOP main event was in 1987 when he finished fifth out of a field of 152 entrants.

       Once World Poker Tour events turned into a monthly affair, Howard started playing in more and more tournaments. The intensity and excitement of the events has turned large buy-in No-Limit Texas Holdem tournaments into his favorite game.

       Howard Lederer may be the smartest poker player in the world. He is one of four players with multiple WSOP bracelets and multiple WPT victories.

       One thing that separates Howard from most other players is his personality. Unlike many, “The Professor” is not one to sulk or get emotional while playing. His even tempter and down-to-earth style is well received, and not only is he well liked by his poker peers, he also has an enormous fan base.

       Poker and skill games had always been a major theme in the Lederer household. Howard isn't the only professional poker player in the family, as Annie Duke is actually his younger sister. He taught her the game when they were younger, and many poker fans would argue that Annie has surpassed Howard's skill. Annie is currently the most winning female poker player ever.

       In over two decades of playing in professional poker tournaments, Lederer has captured 16 major events ($1,000 buy-in and up) and has finished in the money in 36 WSOP events.

       Lederer is now a renowned poker player who has become known for his distinctive style of play and for his focused, calm demeanor at the poker table.He also runs a poker school called 'Howard Lederer Poker Fantasy Camp.
