The World Poker Tour

       The World Poker Tour contains a number of poker tournaments and in these tournaments participate most professional poker players in the world.

       World Poker Tour is founded in United States and also begin to take proportion with the help of attorney/television producer Stephen Lipscomb who now serves as CEO of WPT Enterprises (WPTE), the firm that controls the World Poker Tour.

       The first season started in 2002 and the series has taken off as it is continuing with more events that range from $2,500-$25,000 .

       The WPT has a series of events including the Bellagio Cup, The Bicycle Casino Legends of Poker, Borgata Poker Open, North American Poker Championship, and many more.

       These phenomenal events have been attended by the greatest poker players known, these big names are: Gus Hansen who has won 3 times, Barry Greenstein with 2 wins,Alan Goehring with 2 wins, Howard Lederer who has also won 2 times,Phil Ivey tops the WPT with the most final tables with a whooping 8 of them. Other big names from the top are also romanian Daniel Negreanu, who has made 7 final tables, and the vietnamese Scotty Nguyen, who has also made 7 final tables.

       With millions of viewers tuning in to watch each episode, it seems that the World Poker Tour is destined to continue gaining popularity and become one of the most watched sports today but also a source of theory for many poker players.

       World Poker Tour over time has had the big winners on Tuan Le with $1,500,00, Hoyt Corkins $1,000,000, Mohamed Ibrahim $563,400, Phil Hellmuth $281,700, Christoper Ackerman $226,925 .

       The show's hosts are Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten, they occasionally interact with the players during the game but it is widely known that their comments about hole cards are recorded after the tournament takes place.

       In January 2008, the World Poker Tour announced a set of tournaments for women, known as WPT Ladies, the first season will have five events and the final table of the final event will be televised .
