How not to be a fish on Poker-part II
How Not To Be A Fish On Poker-Positional Play
This is the second series for beginners, "How Not To Be A Fish On Poker" , where we follow our position in the game.
The position at the poker table, in general terms, the only variable we can speculate for us in any game.If you are not familiar with this concept, we can say that according to position, you are the first, among the first, among the last or in position -the last one that counts in hand with the dealer button. The negative positions are clearly playing the blinds.
Whatever our level or books we have in hand,to be in position is to be the most advantageous, because we always have more information than others and in the world of Texas Hold'em's information is the most important thing that we can have.
The most important reason to play in position:
1. When is our turn (not figuratively), we have the most information.
2. The position provides opportunities to bluff cheap and efficient.
3. Acting the last we can better evaluate best what money throw at stake.
4. Again, having the final say, we decide the amount of pot.
A good example of how important is the position:
Tom "durrrr" Dwan and Patrik Antonius play currently 1.5 million dollars for an online game of 50,000 hands 1-1. The winner takes the pot plus the money in bets from outside the game.
They are probably two of the best online poker players in the world and looking at the statistics of hands played before we realize what can do the position on table.
If we compare the game in position with the game outside of position shown exactly the same at both players: the substantial losses is in outside position and very profitable in position. Although the game is 1-1 and in a steady pace, position make the difference between winning or losing millions.
